AVED stands for Accident Victim and Emergency Development Foundation. Our sole purpose is to bridge the gap in emergency response in Africa.

The importance of response time during emergencies cannot be overemphasised. What do you do if you witness an accident? What number do you call? In Africa, very often we do not have the luxury of a functioning emergency numbers like 911 or 199. In most cases, all we have is be your brother’s keeper or be your sister’s keeper as the case may be. To add to this sad situation, many of us do not know what to do in the event of an emergency. However often present are spectators, amateur photographers, and social media crew.

This is where AVED comes in. AVED aims to ensure that in no distant future we will have trained volunteers among those spectators in every scene. We want you to be a volunteer not just a spectator!

Being an AVED volunteer takes nothing from you or your time. You go about your normal activities as usual. However, in the event of an emergency, if you happen to be in the vicinity, you can simply take action. You can do the following:

  • Crowd control
  • CPR or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Administer first aid
  • Assist in fire fighting

Or simply make a call to more experienced emergency responders.

It is quite simple and practical. Join us, let us save lives today!

All AVED volunteers will receive regular training free of charge spanning from Disaster management, Basic first aid to basic firefighting and lots more.
