Mission Statement

It is the mission of Accident Victims and Emergency Development Foundation to provide the masses in developing countries with prompt, efficient assistance in the event of any emergency. Our friendly, knowledgeable and well trained team of volunteers is equipped with information and the technical know-how anytime and every time, to offer first-responder assistance in the event of any kind of emergency.

AVED was founded by a group of young men desperate to offer a solution to the endemic challenges of emergencies without first responders in most of Africa. The group, all of whom are Nigerian-born, incorporated AVED as a nonprofit organization. This was in line with the goal from the onset – serving humanity, without a desire for profit. Hence, daily, the founding members brainstorm on newer and easier ways to achieve this goal of ameliorating the myriad sufferings and pains arising from accidents where first responders are nonexistent.

The incorporation of AVED happened after a lunch meeting in a restaurant in the business district of Port Harcourt, Nigeria’s oil city. It took over two years to raise funds to achieve the first training of AVED’s first set of volunteers; and even then, the turnout was less than had been expected. Despite our slow beginning, today, we are one of the fastest growing African nonprofit organizations, with increased volunteering interest from people of all works of life.

Headquartered in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, we proudly serve every region of Nigeria. Our goal is to become a household name with active members located in every nook and cranny of the continent.

Our members spend countless hours training and practicing critical life saving skills. Our expertise must span from vehicular extrication techniques, to fire search and rescue, to rescue from dangerous floods, oil spill response, rescue from to fire suppression operations, to emergency medical procedures. All of our skills are acquired and kept current by our members in their spare time – so that we may serve you best in your time of need.

We are proud to serve our immediate community – and that includes wherever you are, reading this. As always, we appreciate everyone who supports us in our effort to be there for you – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
