EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER COURSE

This unique one-day course has been specifically designed to equip volunteers with the practical and essential life-saving skills needed to cope in an emergency situation. There is a clear focus on the essential elements of basic first-aid, crowd control and basic life support with an emphasis on hands-on practice. This course is ideally suited for new volunteers to enable them play a positive role during an emergency. The volunteer learns a high level of practical basic first aid skills over a short time frame and do not require formal certified training. This course is the basic course for all AVED volunteers. It gives each volunteer the training and knowledge needed to play an invaluable role at the scene of any emergency.

  • How to apply bandages, wound dressing and slings
  • Control of bleeding & treatment of wounds and shock
  • Recovery position
  • Recognising angina, heart attack and cardiac arrest

  • Medical emergencies

Training Methodology
Our approach to training incorporates both practical and interactive learning, giving the volunteers the confidence and ability to put theory into practice and to cope with real-life situations that may arise in the workplace, home or community. Our partners have years of practical experience in front line emergency care and tutoring all levels of learners.

Assessment/Evaluation
There is no assessment applicable to this course.

Certification
On completion of this course volunteers will receive an AVED vest and kit.
